MSI’s first tablet device, the WindPad 100W, is now available for purchase.

The MSI WindPad 100W features a 10.1-inch 1024×600 multi-touch display and runs Windows 7 Starter OS with Wind Touch user interface. The 1.7-pound tablet is based on the Intel “Menlow” low-power platform for mobile devices and includes the Atom Z530 1.6GHz single-core processor, 2GB of RAM, a 32GB solid state drive, and “over 6 hours” of battery life.

There are also front- and rear-facing cameras, a mini HDMI port, single USB connector, SDHC card reader, and 802.11n Wi-Fi.

The WindPad 100W can be currently found only at Simply Electronics and costs $709.95.

MSI is also expected to release the WindPad 100A tablet with Android OS.

Android 3.0 “Honeycomb”

Google has showcased the Android 3.0 “Honeycomb” OS, optimized for tablet devices.

Android Honeycomb has some features that can not be found on older versions of the OS, such as the new home screen, new widgets, new notification system, a multitasking button for easy switching between applications, video chat support, new camera app, updated Google Maps, e-book reader, and optimized performance, especially in terms of 2D and 3D graphics.

The company has additionally announced that Android apps can now be discovered and downloaded via web at Android Market web store, instead via Android Market app only. Google has also unveiled a new payment platform for the Market, as well as in-app payment functionality.

Samsung has announced that the Galaxy Tab 7-inch Android 2.2 OS-based tablet will be available on all four major carriers in the U.S: AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon.

The Galaxy Tab for the U.S. market will not be able to make phone calls, unlike the version showcased at 2010 IFA.

The carriers will start selling the Galaxy Tab with data plans in time for the holiday season. There’s no word on pricing.

Samsung has also said that they will release a Wi-Fi only version, which will not require a carrier contract.

California-based Cherrypal today announced the CherryPad America sub $200 tablet computer, featuring a 7-inch display, Android 2.1 operating system with “full access to the Android Market” and a Samsung ARM11 800MHz processor.

“The CherryPad America features a 7-inch resistive touch widescreen display (no stylus needed) at 800×480 resolution with built-in gravity sensor. Memory, storage and wireless functions include 256 MBs of DDRII RAM; 2 GB NAND Flash; Micro SD (1x) reader, and WiFi 802.11 b/g.

Standard I/O ports include USB 2.0 supported by an external adapter; 3.5 mm headphone jack, built-in speakers and microphone, DC port, optional external 3G modem. The CherryPad America’s Polymer 3200 MAH battery has a run time of 6-8 hours. The device weighs just 1.1 pounds and is housed in a sturdy aluminum case,” the press release says.

The tablet and other Cherrypal products will be exclusively sold through Zecozi in the United States. The tablet has a a MSRP of $188.

Upgrade to Android 2.2 is expected by the end of 2010.

Augen has announced six new Android 2.2-based tablets with screen sizes from 7 to 10 inches and prices between $200 and $600.

The upcoming tablets belong to the basic Latte and more powerful Espresso Series. The Latte lineup includes GENTOUCH Latte and GENTOUCH Latte Grande, while the Espresso Series includes GENTOUCH Espresso, Espresso Dolce, Espresso Doppio, and Espresso Firma.

The recently announced Archos 70 tablet with a 7-inch display and Android OS is now available for purchase.

The Archos 70 runs Android 2.2 (Froyo) with access to AppsLib store offering free and paid apps, and features the ARM Cortex A8 1GHz processor and 3D OpenGL ES 2.0-compatible graphics for 3D gaming on the tablet. The device supports 720p HD video playback and also has a front-facing VGA web camera, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 8GB of Flash storage. Archos is also expected to release a version with a 250GB hard drive.

The 7″ screen on the Archos 70 is capacitive multi-touch with a resolution of 800×480 pixels.

There are also stereo speakers, a mic, G-sensor, HDMI output, USB 2.0 and USB Host ports, and a Micro SD card reader.

According to Archos, the tablet’s battery provides up to 10 hours of web surfing on a single charge or 7 hours of video playback, while music playback will drain the battery after 36 hours.

The Archos 70 has an overmoulded stainless steel structure and is 0.43-inch thin. The Flash model weighs 0.69 pounds.

The tablet is priced at $274 on the Archos website.

Consumer electronics company Augen has relased the Gentouch78, an affordable 7-inch Android OS-based tablet computer priced at only $150.

Besides the Android 2.1, access to Android Market, and a 800×480 touch display, the Gentouch78 includes an 800MHz processor, 256MB DDR2 RAM, 2GB of internal storage expandable via an SD/MMC card slot, and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The Augen Gentouch78 will be available through Kmart stores.

Samsung is expected to release the Galaxy Tab GT-P1000, the company’s first tablet device, at the 2010 IFA Show in Berlin, Germany.

According to leaked specifications, besides a 7-inch 16:10 1024X600 capacitive multi-touch display and Android 2.2 “Froyo” OS, the Galaxy Tab features a 1.2GHz ARM Cortex A8-based Samsung S5PC110 processor, 16GB of Flash memory, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, 3G connectivity, a 3.2MP web camera, an SDHC memory card reader, and a built-in accelerometer.

The tablet weighs 370 grams (around 0.8 pounds).

It has been previewed in a video by a Korean website Digital Times. On the other side, Samsung has officially released Galaxy Tab teaser.

Hannspree has announced a tablet device featuring a 10.1-inch 1,024×600 multitouch display and Android 2.2 operating system.

The tablet is based on Nvidia’s Tegra 2 platform with an ARM A9 dual core processor at 1GHz. It has 16GB of storage space and supports 1080p HD video, as well as Flash 10.1. The battery provides 8 hours of full HD playback.

Hannspree’s device includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a mini HDMI port, mini USB connector, Micro SD card slot, and accelerometer.

The tablet is priced at 399 Euros (507 USD).

Acer has announced the 10.1-inch Aspire One D260 and Aspire One 533 netbooks, as well as 11.6-inch Aspire One 753 ultraportable.

The Acer Aspire One D260 (AOD260) features the 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 / N455 processor, 1GB RAM, up to 250GB of hard drive space, a 1024×600 display, Wi-Fi, optional Bluetooth 3.0, and Windows 7 or optional dual-boot Google Android / Windows 7 OS configuration.

The Aspire One 533 (AO533) netbook comes with the Atom N455 or N470 1.83GHz CPU, support for DDR3 memory, a 250GB hard disk, 1024×600 or 1280×720 display, integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and 3G options, an HDMI port, and claimed 10 hours of battery life on a single charge.

Acer’s 753 (AO753) includes the Intel Celeron U3400 ULV CPU, Intel HD graphics with 128MB dedicated memory, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 640GB HDD, 1366×768 display, Wi-Fi, optional Bluetooth and 3G, and an HDMI output.

There’s no info on pricing and availability dates.
