Asustek’s new entertainment laptop PC – the 18.4-inch ASUS W90 – is now available in the United States.

The first offered model is the ASUS W90Vp-X1. Along with the 1920 x 1200 widescreen display, the desktop replacement notebook features the Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 processor at 2.80GHz, the high-end ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4870 X2 1GB dual video card for gaming, three SO-DIMM slots populated with 6GB of DDR2 memory, a 320GB 7,200rpm hard drive, and a DVD burner. The W90 is based on the Intel X38 chipset, designed for use in desktop PCs.

The system also includes built-in 5.1 channel Altec Lancing speakers, Dolby Home Theater technology, a 2MP web camera, 802.11/b/g/n Wireless LAN, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, and a 56k modem, as well as HDMI and VGA outputs, four USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, eSATA and Firewire ports, and an 8-in-1 media card reader.

The W90Vp-X1, which comes with a 12-cell battery, weighs around 11.5 pounds.

It runs Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit OS and costs $2,199.99 at NewEgg.

Asustek earlier said the W90 is equipped with the Turbo Gear function, which allows users to overclock the machine by “up to 25%”. The computer maker also plans to launch W90 models with a 17-inch display.

Asustek has silently launched the Asus Eee PC 1002H netbook, featuring a 10-inch 1024×600 LED backlight display and Intel’s new Atom N280 CPU at 1.66GHz.

The 2.65-pound Eee PC 1002H includes 1GB of DDR2 memory, a 160GB hard drive with Windows XP Home preloaded, and a 5-hour battery.

There are also a 92%-sized keyboard, 1.3MP web camera, stereo speakers, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth, an Ethernet LAN port, three USB ports, a VGA output, and a 4-in-1 media card reader.

The 1002H will be available in white, black, and pink color.

Asus F50SV-X1

Asus F50SV-X1

The Asus F50SV-X1, a 16-inch notebook with the latest NVIDIA GeForce GT 120M video card, is now available in the US through Newegg.

Along with the GT 120M dedicated GPU that includes 1GB of video memory and 32 processing cores, the F50SV-X1 comes with the Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 processor at 2GHz, 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive with Windows Vista Home Premium installed, and a DVD burner. Laptop’s display resolution is 1366 x 768.

The 6.3-pound notebok supports 802.11n wireless networking and has a built-in web camera.

The Asus F50SV-X1 is priced at $799, after $100 instant off.

Asus P80

Asustek has released details of the ASUS P80 business laptop, featuring a 14-inch display and Intel’s new Anti-Theft technology.

The ASUS P80 comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo or Pentium CPU, up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, up to 320GB of hard drive space, and a DVD burner. The P80A and P80Q models include the Intel GMA X4500MHD (with HD decoder) and X4500M integrated graphics respectively, whereas the P80Vc has the NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS 512MB dedicated GPU.

The laptops have 14″ 1366×768 anti-glare LED backlight displays with a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Other features include a 1.3MP web camera, the Intel WiMAX/WiFi Link 5100, optional Bluetooth, a 56k modem, and a Gigabit Ethernet LAN port, as well as two USB ports, a eSATA/USB combo port, a 7-in-1 media card reader, a VGA output. We haven’t find any info on PC Card or ExpressCard slot.

Here’s how Asustek explains Intel Anti-Theft Technology, incorporated into the P80:

“This new technology provides users with the ability to send a “poison pill” remotely, rendering the notebook inoperable by comprehensively shutting it down. As such, the risk resulting from a stolen or lost notebook is eliminated. Once the notebook has been recovered, a local passphrase or recovery token can be used to reactivate the notebook”.

Another laptop’s security feature is AI Pre-boot Finger Login, “from which users have to scan their finger via the scanner prior to system boot-up”, and the AI Secure Delete which “allows users to securely delete any sensitive data completely with no opportunity for others to retrieve them”.

The ASUS P80 weighs 5.3 pounds with a 6 cell battery and runs Windows Vista.

There’s no info on pricing and availability.

The company also plans to launch a smaller version of the notebook – the ASUS P30.

Asustek has announced the Asus P30A, the first model in the P30 13.3-inch business notebook series.

Measuring 1-inch in profile and weighing around 3.3 pounds, the P30A includes the Intel Core 2 Duo SU9400 processor at 1.4GHz, up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, up to 320GB of hard drive storage, and a DVD burner. There’s no info on the GPU in the press release.

The LED-backlit anti-glare display has a resolution of 1366×768 pixels and a 16:9 aspect ratio.

The Asus P30A also sports a built-in 1.3MP web camera, Intel’s WiMAX/Wi-Fi Link 5100 module, Bluetooth, a Gigabit LAN port, HDMI output, and a variety of security features including Intel Anti-theft technology, a fingerprint reader, a magnesium alloy skeleton beneath the chassis, hard drive shock protection, and a spill-proof keyboard.

The laptop runs Windows Vista OS.

The Asus K40IN-A1, Asustek’s notebook that belongs to the new K Series, is now available in the US.

The 14-inch laptop features the Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 CPU at 2GHz and the GeForce G102M 512MB dedicated video card, which is “NVIDIA’s lowest power GPU with dedicated frame buffer”. Other core components of the Asus K40IN-A1 are 4GB of DDR2 memory, a 320GB hard drive, and a DVD burner.

The 14″ LED-backlit display has a resolution of 1366×768 pixels and a 16:9 aspect ratio.

The K40IN-A1 also sports a built-in web camera, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, a Gigabit Ethernet LAN port, four USB ports, an SD/MMC/MS media card reader, and a VGA output.

The laptop weighs 5.3 lbs with a 6-cell battery and runs Windows Vista Home Premium OS.

According to the earlier announcement, Asus K notebooks feature the proprietary ASUS Super Hybrid Engine (SHE) technology for better energy efficiency. The K Series is claimed to deliver “up to 5 hours of non-stop computing on a 6-cell battery”.

The Asus K40IN-A1 can be purchased through Newegg for $849.99.

Asustek has revealed details of the Asus Eee PC 1005HA netbook, featuring company’s new Seashell design.

The Eee PC 1005HA sports a 10.1-inch LED backlight 1024×600 display, the Intel Atom N270 or N280 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive with Windows XP Home or GNU Linux preloaded, a 3- or 6-cell battery for “up to 10.5 hours” of run time, and a built-in 0.3MP or 1.3MP web camera.

Other features include stereo speakers, 802.11n wireless connectivity, Bluetooth, an Ethernet LAN port, three USB ports, an MMC/SD media card reader, and a VGA output.

The Eee PC 1005HA is thicker (25.9mm ~ 36.5mm) than the 1008HA (18mm ~ 25.7mm), but it has a user replaceable battery, whereas the 1008HA has a fixed battery and one USB port less.

The netbook, which comes in white, black, pink, and blue colors, starts at 2.4 pounds.

We have no info on pricing and availability for the US market, but Slashgear reports that it will start at $405 in Europe.
